Route description
We will set off from Trentabank reservoir car park (SK11 0NS) and after a short 10-15 minute walk on the road, we will turn off into Macclesfield Forest. We will head up through the forest for 2 km, taking it at a gentle pace and stopping for plenty of opportunities to take photographs and enjoy the scenic views. The path flattens out and there is a lovely viewpoint before a further climb to the edge of the forest. We will then head through a gate and onto a more natural stone path through the open access land towards Shutlingsloe. We will proceed up the steps to the peak of Shutlingsloe where we get a wonderful 360 degree view if the weather co-operates!
After a pause for a snack break, we head back down the steps, across the open access land and into Macclesfield forest. We will head back down the hill towards Trentabank reservoir until we hit the road back to the car park.
