Wie jarig is, trakteert!
Op zondag 25 mei bestaat de wijk Céramique 25 jaar. Maastricht Museum in Centre Céramique, het Bonnefanten en Buurtnetwerk Céramique pakken daarom groots uit. Tussen 11:00 en 17:00 uur verandert een deel van de wijk in een bruisend feestterrein vol kunst, cultuur, workshops én... taart! En het mooiste? Alles is gratis toegankelijk.
Vanaf de feestelijke opening met fanfare St. Franciscus tot aan een verrassend theatraal optreden van het Frietkanon: het wordt een dag vol ontmoetingen en ontdekkingen. Het kloppend hart van het jubileum is de smakelijke bakwedstrijd* ‘Bak voor je buur(t)’ – waar buurtgenoten hun lekkerste baksels met elkaar delen. Of je nu komt proeven, aanmoedigen of zelf meedoet: dit wil je niet missen!
Verspreid over de verschillende locaties is er van alles te beleven.
In het Bonnefanten geniet je tijdens de Bonnefanten Free Sunday van gratis toegang tot alle tentoonstellingen. Extra bijzonder is de dan net geopende tentoonstelling Carl Cheng: Nature Never Loses, waarin mens, natuur en technologie in verbinding staan – met thema’s die ook terugkomen in veel van de activiteiten. Bij deze tentoonstelling kun je zelf aan de slag als creatieve ingenieur: van gesloopte computeronderdelen maak je iets compleet nieuws. Op het voorplein van het museum ontdek je mini-Maaseiland De Weerd, een tijdelijke ecologische tuin, gecreëerd door kunstenaarsduo Stefan Cools en Sandra van den Beuken. En voor kunstliefhebbers is er nóg een traktatie: de Bonnefanten Kunstuitleen organiseert een kunstmarkt met bijzondere werken uit de collectie van de jaren ’80, ’90 en ’00. Een buitenkans om hoogwaardige kunst voor een aantrekkelijke prijs in huis te halen.
In Centre Céramique kun je gratis het Maastricht Museum bezoeken en meedoen aan creatieve workshops voor jong en oud. FASHIONCLASH organiseert een Pop-up Atelier, waar je met textielresten blauwe vlaggen en banieren maakt, passend bij de outfits van de Ommegangen. Tegelijkertijd vindt er op de vierde etage een panelgesprek plaats met betrokkenen van het eerste uur, over de Zuidknoop, de Noordknoop en over wat uiteindelijk een stedenbouwkundig voorbeeld werd in binnen- en buitenland. Voor de jongste bezoekers zijn er feestelijke voorleesmomenten, en in de middag kunnen kinderen vanaf 4 jaar hun eigen boekentas versieren tijdens de workshop MAAK! je eigen boekentas, ter ere van 25 jaar de bibliotheek in Centre Céramique.
In het Charles Eyck Park – dat de twee locaties met elkaar verbindt – is het gezellig vertoeven met speelse, duurzame en inspirerende activiteiten. Zoals het maken van een suikergoedtuintje, een plantenbakje van oude spijkerbroeken, een mini-biotoop voor insecten, een bijenhotel en meer!
Ook de ziel van de wijk krijgt een podium: Buurtnetwerk Céramique organiseert boeiende lezingen en panelgesprekken over de bijzondere architectuur van Céramique. Wandel mee met een tour door de wijk en ontdek Céramique met nieuwe ogen. Laat je verrassen door de fototentoonstelling 25 jaar Céramique in 25 portretten van fotograaf Sarina Uilenberg en de verrassende act Purse Nurse.

The birthday person treats!
On Sunday, May 25, the neighborhood Céramique celebrates its 25th anniversary. Maastricht Museum in Centre Céramique, Bonnefanten and Buurtnetwerk Céramique will therefore organize a major celebration. Between 11:00 and 17:00 part of the neighborhood will be transformed into a vibrant area full of art, culture, workshops and... cake! And the best part? Everything is accessible for free.
From the festive opening with fanfare St. Franciscus to a surprising theatrical performance by the Frietkanon: it will be a day full of encounters and discoveries. The beating heart of the anniversary is the tasty baking competition Bake for your neighbor - where neighbors share their tastiest baked goods. Whether you come to taste, encourage or participate yourself: you don't want to miss this!
Scattered throughout various locations, there is plenty to experience.
In the Bonnefanten you will enjoy free access to all exhibitions during Bonnefanten Free Sunday. Extra special is the then just opened exhibition Carl Cheng: Nature Never Loses, in which man, nature and technology are connected - themes that also appear in most of the activities. At this exhibition you can get to work yourself as a creative engineer: from scrapped computer parts you can make something completely new.
On the museum's forecourt you will discover mini-Maaseiland De Weerd, a temporary ecological garden created by artist duo Stefan Cools and Sandra van den Beuken. And for art lovers there is another treat: the Bonnefanten Kunstuitleen (art loan) is organizing an art market with special works from its collection from the 80s, 90s and 00s. A great opportunity to buy high quality art for an attractive price.
At Centre Céramique, you can visit the Maastricht Museum for free and participate in creative workshops for young and old. FASHIONCLASH is organizing a Pop-up Atelier, where you will make blue flags and banners with textile leftovers, matching the outfits of the Ommegangen. At the same time, a panel discussion will take place on the fourth floor with those involved from the very beginning, about the Zuidknoop, the Noordknoop and about what eventually became an urban planning example in the Netherlands and abroad. For the youngest visitors there will be festive read-aloud moments, and in the afternoon children from 4 years and up can decorate their own book bag during the workshop MAKE! your own book bag, in honor of 25 years of the library at Centre Céramique.
The Charles Eyck Park - which connects the two locations - is a great place to hang out with playful, sustainable and inspiring activities. Like making a garden of sweets, a planter from old jeans, a mini-biotope for insects, a bee hotel and more!
The soul of the neighborhood also gets a stage: Buurtnetwerk Céramique organizes fascinating lectures and panel discussions about the special architecture of Céramique. Walk with a tour of the neighborhood and discover Céramique with new eyes. Be surprised by the photo exhibition 25 years of Céramique in 25 portraits by photographer Sarina Uilenberg and the surprising act Purse Nurse.
