snowmanAbout this EventAmigurumi crochet is the Japanese art of crocheting stuffed toys and dolls. The process involves working in continuous rounds, starting with a "magic ring" and gradually increasing stitches to create shapes that are then stuffed with fiberfill and sewn together. This project is approximately 10 inches tall by 5 inches wide.During this workshop at the Lyons Farmette you will learn basic crochet techniques to make a festive stuffed snowman toy or decoration. In this workshop you will learn to read a crochet pattern and basic crochet stitches and assembly techniques that will give you the knowledge and confidence to create other amigurumi creatures or crochet projects. Cost of materials included. You will take home your crochet hooks and yarn-needle for future projects.Students can expect a 1 hour lunch break, starting around noon.No experience required.A little about Kelsi, your instructor: Kelsi Nagy, PhD, is a writer, human-animal studies scholar, and university instructor. Crochet has been a lifelong hobby that she first learned from her grandmother. Her daughter’s love for stuffed animals inspired her to learn amigurumi patterns, which are based on simple crochet techniques.
