Canberra Veterans Art Connect is a local gathering for veteran artists and their famililes that values connection and fosters creativity in our veteran community. The events are more than art meetups—expect to be welcomed, heard and seen, as you learn and share with your peers. Every gathering is free - held in a welcoming space to connect, create, and share over a warm cup of tea.

No prior art experience needed. So don't put a label on yourself 'veteran artist' or 'artist'. If you're a veteran and you're seeking community and connection, come along. Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or refining your craft, this is a place to connect, heal, and grow through creativity.

Hosted by Michael Armstrong Art - a community driven hub of creativity, wellness and learning and public art studio of Veteran Artist, Mike Armstrong in collaboration with the Australian National Veterans Art Museum (ANVAM). This event draws on Mikes 23 years of military service and 30+ years of artistic practice, including his Voices of Veterans photographic collection. Mike is driven to create a space where all veterans can explore the transformative potential of creative arts.

• Creative Sharing: Bring your current art projects—whether painting, drawing, sculpting, or photography—and share your work with a supportive community. Swap ideas, troubleshoot creative challenges, and gain feedback from fellow artists.

• Artist Talks: Hear inspiring stories and insights from veteran and local Canberra artists, gallorists and collectors, exploring how art fosters healing, expression, and connection.

• Hands-On Workshops: Develop your skills with guided workshops focusing on techniques like drawing, sculpting, or painting, tailored to all experience levels—from beginners to seasoned artists.

• Gallery Outings: Join group visits to Canberra’s local galleries to spark inspiration and engage with the broader art community.

• Community Connection: Build lasting bonds with veterans and families who share a passion for creativity and storytelling through art.
