Join Us for a Winter Walk.
This walk is free to join and no booking is required. We’ll meet at The Black Shed, Slimbridge, where village parking is available nearby. If possible, please consider car sharing.
We’ll set off promptly at 10:00am. The route is approximately 3.6 miles, flat, and should take around 2 hours.
The walk follows the canal towpath, quiet lanes, and fields, passing through Slimbridge churchyard and the village. Fingers crossed for crisp winter sunshine and frosty views!
Please note: it could be muddy or icy, so wear suitable footwear and bring hiking poles if you have them (optional). The Black Shed will be closed that day, but the Tudor Arms will be open after the walk for refreshments.
About the ‘Women That Walk’ Group
Our walking group is all about bringing women together on the last Saturday of every month to enjoy the beautiful countryside, share some laughs, and let off steam. It’s free to join and no booking is required.
We walk at a comfortable pace—nothing too far or strenuous—just enough fresh air and movement to boost your energy and lift your spirits. Take it at your own pace; we support each other along the way.
Expect plenty of chatting, laughter, and that wonderful feeling of getting fitter and feeling better—plus a bit of good old-fashioned peer support!
What you’ll need:
Comfy walking shoes, trainers, or boots
Weather-appropriate clothing (it can be wet or muddy)
There’s usually a café or bar at the start and end point for anyone who fancies a tea, coffee, or even a slice of cake afterwards.
Important:
You are responsible for your own health and safety during the walk.
Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Dogs are not permitted. This helps keep the walk calm and enjoyable for everyone—giving us ladies the chance to walk and talk without distractions.
