English electronic/spoken word artist Antony Szmierek delivers his message in a heartfelt, emotionally raw style. He backs it up with nostalgia-inducing production that varies in its inspiration from 2000s indie to '90s rave and UKG.
Hailing from Manchester, Szmierek started out as an English teacher at a special needs school. His love of indie music led him to join local band the Rhythm Method, but his love of poetry would eventually lead him to performing solo at open mikes around the city. Having experienced the effect his words could have on audiences, he decided to start self-producing UKG beats to accompany his spoken word. Wanting to utilize his experience with the Rhythm Method, he evolved into a full band, particularly when it came to live shows. In this new iteration, a debut EP emerged, 2023's Poems to Dance To. The release of the EP, alongside some tasteful collaborations, earned him the accolade of 6 Music’s Artist of the Year on the BBC. With his career gaining traction, he left teaching to pursue music full-time. This resulted in a debut album, 2024's Service Station at the End of the Universe.
