- **Event Description**: We're thrilled to be past of the inaugural Coastal Appreciation Week to celebrate Nova Scotia’s coasts, taking place from July 11 to 19, 2026!
Our local group is hosting this special event on Sunday, July 12th from 11am to 4pm, starting at the Riverport and District Community Centre, and ending the afternoon at Hirtle's Beach.  A light lunch will be available between noon and 1pm for $15. 

An interesting, family friendly, fun, educational, activities filled day has been planned. Nova Scotia’s coast is important to all of us for work and recreation, and for the part it plays in supporting its natural inhabitants. Its environmental well-being is essential to our way of life.

Speakers have been lined up who have been working on projects and studies that are remarkable but sometimes receive little public attention. This is a good time to hear about some of the positive ocean and coastal related initiatives that are taking place today.
