- **Event Name**: Lecture - From Civil Society to the UN: Pathways, Power, and the Future of Peace Research
- **Event Start and End Date**: Mon, 13 Apr, 2026 at 02:00 pm – Mon, 13 Apr, 2026 at 03:30 pm (+00:00)
- **Event Description**: Are you interested in doing an internship working with civil society and the United Nations? Do you want to learn about peacecraft on a global level? How do we even define peace? Do human rights exist? What does the future of the UN look like? Do we need to prepare for a potential “third generation” of international peace architecture? And, what would that look like?

On April 13th 2026, Lupef invites you to an online lecture with Anders Raegan. Anders Reagan is a peace theorist and applied philosopher working at the intersection of international law, peace and conflict studies, and political theory. He is the Founding Director of the Institute for Global Peacecraft (formerly the Peace and Conflict Science Institute). His research focuses on the conceptual foundations of peace, sovereignty, and legitimacy, with particular attention to human rights, the use of force, and the ethical limits of institutional authority.

The session explores how students and early-career researchers can engage with international institutions and peacebuilding in practice. Drawing on experience working with civil society at the United Nations and developing new theoretical approaches to peace, the talk will map concrete entry points into global governance, explain the role NGOs play in shaping international agendas, and introduce current research on the conceptual foundations of peace and human rights. The session is designed as both an orientation to career pathways and an invitation to critically reflect on how global institutions function and evolve.

After the lecture participants will have the opportunity to ask Anders questions as well as apply for an internship with the IGP, which takes place online over the summer months. Interning with IGP is an excellent opportunity for students interested in the United Nations, the role of civil society at the international level, and global peacebuilding efforts and research. Participants will be introduced to some of the world’s most influential peace networks, such as the Alliance for Peacebuilding, and will have the chance to contribute directly to IGP’s meaningful work in advancing global peace initiatives.
