Highlights include -
Titterstone Clee Hill (533 m / 1,749 ft) -
One of the highest points in Shropshire, offering 360° panoramic views.
On a clear day, you can see the Malvern Hills, Wrekin, Black Mountains, and even Snowdonia in the far distance.
The summit has radar domes (“golf balls”) and remains of old quarry workings — a mix of modern and ancient industry.
Awesome Old Quarry Ruins -
The route passes through the remains of Titterstone Clee Hill Quarry, where dolerite (whinstone) was once mined for road stone.
You'll see remnants of railway inclines, stone crusher bases, and workers’ buildings, giving a glimpse into Shropshire’s industrial past.
Local Legends & Lore-
According to local tales, giants once hurled stones across the landscape from Clee Hill!
The hill’s isolation and misty atmosphere have inspired folklore — it’s said to be haunted by quarry workers’ spirits and travellers lost in fog.
Elevation on this walk will be over 1,500 ft, so make sure you are a good level of fitness.
If it is clear we will see some stunning views but can also be cold and windy on the exposed parts, please dress appropriately with good footwear, plenty of layers and waterproofs.
Bring enough food and water to sustain you, we will lunch in a nice viewing spot.
