In his role as a senior archaeologist with the Environment Agency, Stephen is keen to engage with local groups, keeping us up to date with what is going on.

The second half of the talk will be about some of the important items uncovered elsewhere, among the gold and silver that makes up the Staffordshire Hoard. What does this hoard tell us about tensions in society in the 7th century?

Stephen Dean has an academic and professional background in archaeology, having worked for Staffordshire County Council as an archaeologist for 13 years, involved in numerous projects including the discovery of the Staffordshire Hoard.

As a Senior Archaeologist with the Environment Agency he has advised on flood defence schemes in Kendal, Carlisle and now Hebden Bridge.
