Step into the timeless beauty of Tuscany and join me over 9 days/8 nights of painting, adventure, culture, and beauty in the medieval hilltop town of Lucignano. Famous for its rustic streets, ancient walls, and sweeping countryside views, this experience invites you to paint, explore, and immerse yourself in one of Italy’s most charming regions.

Heidi Willis is a professional Australian artist celebrated for her detailed botanical and wildlife watercolour paintings. With decades of experience and international recognition as a fine artist and tutor, she brings experience, expertise and a warm, supportive teaching style to her workshops. Heidi’s classes focus on practical techniques, creative growth, and helping each student gain confidence while enjoying the process of painting.

Our Tuscan studio for the week is an ancient stone chapel on the edge of town, providing a uniquely atmospheric space for our painting sessions together. Here, you’ll enjoy a relaxed, supportive environment where you can focus on your watercolour practice while soaking in the historic surroundings.

Easily accessible from Rome or Florence, the drive and roads are easy and beautiful to Lucignano. Or, the main train line runs right through this region with a transfer planned for you at Arezzo station, a main and straight forward stop on this line.

Accommodation is booked independently to give you as much freedom and options as you please, but rooms have been held for you here at Residenza d’Epoca Il Cassero, a beautifully restored residence that sits right beside the studio with several configurations available for you there. The accommodations wonderful stone walls bound the towns outer edges, and opens up to the village on the other as well. Alternative accommodation options in Lucignano are available at a range of prices, and can be booked directly with local hosts. WHAT IS INCLUDED: AUD$1650 (approx €930)

• Studio access in an ancient stone, private chapel space situated at the entrance of the medieval town of Lucignano, Tuscany.
• Guided watercolour sessions over the week, including a mix of half and full painting/studio days.
• Support and guidance throughout your creative Italian experience

• Meals are not included, but Lucignano offers a variety of cafés and restaurants at your fingertips (allow approx €10-20 for standard lunch/dinner)

• Special highlight: Ive coincided our stay with the Maggiolata Flower Festival, a vibrant celebration where the streets of Lucignano burst into colour with floral floats, music, and parades, an unforgettable cultural experience to enjoy alongside your painting practice.

Info: Arrive in Lucignano and settle in to our accommodation and studio space. Transfers from Arezzo Station at 2PM will be arranged for those who need it (allow €50 pp) Lets start with a group dinner relax and enjoy, shall we!

Info: Settle in to our studio space and enjoy a full day in the studio, learning about realistic watercolour painting, drawing on bounty of spring botanical inspiration we have on offer to us in our Tuscan surroundings.

Info: Enjoy another full, creative studio day in our chapel venue, exploring our creative sides, discovering more about nature illustration, realistic watercolour painting and our surroundings.

Info: Start the morning with a lovely coffee and wander down to the studio to enjoy a relaxing morning painting and learning. After lunch we have free time to enjoy the Maggiolata Festival Day that comes to town! Its a huge celebration of floats covered with thousands of fresh flowers, music, dance and more.

Info: Its a day to rest, relax... and create. Soak it all up! Come and go to the studio as you please. The studio will be open and ill be there, but the morning is free time if you prefer with an afternoon painting session in the studio together.

Info: Another lovely studio day, we continue to work on our paintings, recording our favourite things from our Tuscan adventures in peace and happiness.

Info: Which adventure will we choose!? There is so much to see and enjoy in this area, it is honestly endless. From historical villages, each with their own flavour and beauty to the rolling hillsides and vineyards of the countryside, today were putting the brushes down to explore beyond the walls of Lucignano. The tour is arranged with a per person fee paid on the day to cover the driver and van (allow €110 pp)

Info: Today we wind up our time in the studio, enjoying a half day morning session together. Your afternoon can be spent however you wish, exploring, eating, perhaps enjoying a Aperol spritz and the view... its time to pack up and soak up the evening in all it brings.
