# Event Details - **Event Name**: Historical Tour of Lucan Demesne with SOL: history & archaeology - **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 17 Jun, 2026 at 11:00 am – Wed, 17 Jun, 2026 at 12:30 pm (+01:00) - **Event Description**: Volunteers from local history group will take you on a free Lucan Demesne walking tour of history & architecture (medieval to Victorian)About this EventPlease read ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW in full!By booking this ticket on Eventbrite and attending this event, you are agreeing to follow these instructions in full below, so only proceed with your booking if you agree and can commit to the following:This is a very in-depth tour so although children age 13-17 are welcome with a guardian if they're really into history, the tour is aimed primarily at adults.90 minutes of walking, sometimes in off-path conditions, mean you'll need to wear strong, supportive footwear such as walking boots and be physically able to walk for 2 hours. Currently there is no seating within the demesne to rest!START TIME & LOCATION: Meet at the latest 10:55 sharp just inside Lucan House Gates, opposite Primrose Lane on the Lucan Road, R835. Your SOL guide will be wearing a high-vis and will check you in.BUS: This is a perfect location if travelling by bus as the stop 3367 is served by buses C3 - C5- C6 - L54 - stop 3 mins walk away if coming from Dublin direction. If coming from the Leixlip direction, the bus stop at Lucan's AIB bank is closer again - a 1 min walk from the gates.PARKING: No on-site parking at this point unfortunately. Paid parking is available around Lucan village (which tends to be very busy) or, if you intend staying in Lucan for lunch, if you park in Carroll's Pub on Lucan village green, they give free parking to those eating there and will give you the exit code once you've paid for your meal.WEATHER: In the event of a very poor weather forecast/weather warning, we will notify you by email the day before if cancellation is necessary. We will not cancel in the event of light rain; just wear a mac and wear good footwear!DATA PROTECTION: We share names of attendees and anonymised feedback with South Dublin County Council as part of the tour as they own Lucan House & Demesne and are kindly facilitating these tours. We will take photos of the tour during the time which may use in our newsletter, on our website, social media and published output, so if you would prefer not to be included in these photos, please let the tour guide assistant know on check in? We will also send you a follow-up email to request feedback from you (which can be anonymous) so that we can improve our tours.CANCELLATION: If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48 hours before the event, so that a space can be offered to those on the waiting list. Our tours are given by 100% volunteers so please be mindful not to waste your space.HEALTH & SAFETY: It is essential that you attend in good time to hear the Health & Safety briefing. By booking, you are agreeing to adhere to this H&S advice to the letter. You attend this tour at your own risk and are responsible for your safety during the tour. You will be asked to sign a form to agree that you have read the H&S advice and will follow the directions in the briefing.It is also essential that you wear sturdy footwear with grips and ankle support, as depending on weather conditions, there may be slippery or uneven surfaces. Some people like to bring walking poles.ACCESSIBILITY & MOBILITY: Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users at this time, or those who use any kind of mobility devices, or who have difficulty with balance due to uneven surfaces and the lack of paths in certain areas. This is completely outside our control.FACILITIES: Currently, there are no toilet or cafe facilities on site.Society for Old Lucan (SOL) have very kindly been given permission by South Dublin County Council (SDCC) to run these voluntary tours.We request that all attendees:agree to following the tour leader at all times,adhere to all the guidance given by the leader, helpers and security staff of South Dublin Councy Council,to not to leave the main tour group at any time, andwill follow the directions of the tour guide & SOL helpers.We will ask those who are unable to do this to leave.
