THE ROGUES SHANTY CHORUS ANNUAL SHOD CONCERT
The Rogues Shanty Chorus proudly returns to the Seagull Theatre, after thirteen consecutive sell-out performances, with their annual 'Shod' concert
In this show, they recall and celebrate memorable, heroic or infamous characters and townsfolk from Lowestoft’s past, through a recreation of Lowestoft’s infamous ‘Shod’ concerts - high-spirited annual events, which were held by and for the town’s fishermen, all interspersed with sea shanties and folk music.
The Rogues Shanty Chorus music and performances aims to keep alive the tradition of Lowestoft's unique coastal, cultural and musical heritage, generating interest to existing and new audiences by exploring the folk music created by the fishing communities of the town.
The group promise to bring their usual inimitable mix of fun and rowdy sea shanties and evocative storytelling performed through equal parts authentic traditional pub singaround and unique charming humour - singing along will be encouraged.
