# Event Details

- **Event Name**: Real Kids, Real Complexity: Teaching at the Intersection of Neurodiversity, Culture and Development
- **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 15 Apr, 2026 at 11:00 pm – Thu, 16 Apr, 2026 at 05:00 am
- **Event Description**: Teaching has never been more complex or more important. Every classroom is a dynamic mix of neurodiversity, cultural identity, language, trauma, and rapid societal change. Educators are being asked to do more, with less - often caught between policy pressures and what they know is right for children.

This new national workshop from Longworth Education acknowledges that complexity and offers practical, evidence-informed strategies for navigating it.

This is not a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, we explore what it means to teach in ways that are developmentally responsive, neuro-affirming, trauma-aware and culturally sustaining, all while managing the daily realities of the classroom.

Designed for teachers, leaders, SENCOs, learning support staff and anyone working in education, this workshop will support you to:

Better understand the developmental, neurological and relational needs that shape student behaviour and learning

Recognise and respond to complexity, without becoming overwhelmed by it

Strengthen inclusive, identity-affirming practices that work in diverse, real-world classrooms

Learn practical ways to hold onto both rigour and humanity in your teaching

Leave with tools, frameworks and language you can use the very next day

Whether you're new to this way of thinking or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop will meet you where you are and support you to move forward with confidence, clarity and care.

Join us as we mark ten years of Longworth Education’s commitment to child-centred pedagogy and celebrate our recognition as one of HundrED’s Top 100 Global Education Innovations for 2026 and Aotearoa's leading expert in play pedagogy across the school sector.
