Landowner Training with Kent Conservation District

Join Us for a Day of Conservation at the Wittenbach Wege Center!
Learn how to protect your landscape and Michigan’s natural landscapes by joining us for a hands-on invasive species control event. We’ll be targeting how to ID and treat woody invasives such as Asian Bittersweet, Autumn Olive, Invasive Honeysuckles, Common & Glossy Buckthorn. These fast spreading vines and shrubs threaten the health of prairies, savannas, and open woodlands throughout the state. Not only are invasive species catastrophic to the ecology of the landscape, but they also affect property values.

🌿 What We’ll Do:
Led by the experts from the Kent Conservation District (KCD), we’ll identify, cut, and treat woody invasives to prevent regrowth and restore native habitats within the Wittenbach Wege Center property. The KCD Strike Team helps effectively manage invasives like this throughout Kent county. No experience necessary—tools and training will be provided. Class will take place outside and involve hiking off trail so dress for the winter weather
