TUR planners are an essential part of the success of this planning process. Indeed, all plans must be reviewed and signed by a certified planner.To become a TUR planner, most eligible professionals must attend this Toxics Use Reduction Planner Certification Course and pass an exam administered by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). Learn more about the eligibility requirements for TUR planners at the MassDEP website.Course OverviewThe course begins with a kick-off Zoom meeting on Tuesday August 18. Participants then have 6 weeks to complete the online portion of the course at their own pace, which thoroughly covers the theory and regulations associated with TUR planning. After completion of the online portion, participants gather in person at TURI’s office in Lowell for four day-long classes to put the theory to practice. Participants learn directly from veteran TUR planners and work together on a practicum based on a real manufacturing operation.At the end of the course, eligible participants are ready to take the MassDEP exam to become TUR planners.
