Frank, fierce and witty, her work does not hide behind cliches, platitudes, or tropes, but addresses the hopes, frustrations, fears, and longings that would be easy to leave unspoken. As Ada Limón writes of the collection, "Often with illness narratives, we only honor the stories of recovery, of healing, of 'being cured,' but that ignores the full human truth that morality is the engine of our existence. With Reid's powerful poems we see a complex and brilliant rendering of the courage it takes to both fight the fact of death, and release to death at the same time. In these poems, I found something I rarely see, the feral urge to survive wrought into unique anthems that praise the dark as equally as the light."Agenda?: 06:30 PMDoors & Open Mic Signup?: 07:00 PMOpen Mic?: 08:00 PMPoetry Reading of "To See Yourself As You Vanish" - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/louisville/vanishing/100001962476143975 - **Event Categories**: open-mic, art, literary-art, nonprofit - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 0, max: 0, currency: USD ## Event venue details - **city**: Louisville - **state**: KY - **country**: United States - **location**: Set & Setting - **lat**: 38.2618516 - **long**: -85.7749543 - **full address**: Set & Setting, 1512 Portland Avenue, Louisville, United States ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: Vanishing - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events3/banners/1fde3593e4e49ab06aecac9afe61e276cef99b432ae51196cad3a56f5b94106e-rimg-w1200-h600-dced7abe-gmir.jpg?v=1762813827 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is Vanishing being held? - **A:** Vanishing takes place on Wed, 19 Nov, 2025 at 06:30 pm to Wed, 19 Nov, 2025 at 09:00 pm at Set & Setting, 1512 Portland Avenue, Louisville, United States. - **Q**: Who is organizing Vanishing? - **A:** Vanishing is organized by Byway Books x Set & Setting. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
