The Potter's Field (Louisville, KY)

Edward Heavrin, Filmmaker & Director
Tuesday, August 27, 7 p.m.
The Kentucky Center, Bomhard Theater

Presented by The Kentucky Center in collaboration with The Governor’s School for the Arts

What happens to the homeless when they die? The Potter’s Field documents high school students in Louisville, KY, who volunteer to give funeral services for the unknown, homeless, and otherwise indigent members of their community. The story of the local students’ involvement is juxtaposed by the stark realities of how cities like Chicago and New York dispose of their less fortunate.

The Potter’s Field was filmed and directed by Louisville native, Edward Heavrin, with assistance from Nick Weis. Gill Holland, in association with The Group Entertainment, served as Executive Producer. The documentary premiered at a sold-out screening in June 2013 at the Louisville Film Society's Flyover Film Festival.

The screening will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by a Q&A with Heavrin and a Trinity High School faculty member. Carrie Nath, Executive Director of The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA), will serve as moderator. Edward Heavrin is a GSA alumnus.

Tickets are $9, general admission seating, fees apply. $1 from each ticket will be donated in support of Louisville’s Coalition for the Homeless. Tickets available online, by phone (502.584.7777), and in-person at The Kentucky Center box office and drive-thru.
