We are trying our classes at different days in Dec. and Jan. to see if there are preferences for when certain classes are offered. We are solidifying a weekly schedule in February.
All of our classes are LGBTQ+, BIPOC, persons with disabilities, all body sizes, and neurodiverse welcoming.
This class is designed for anyone who wants to enjoy the specific system of ballet technique, with it’s own unique style of movement. Sara Yanney MA, MFA, LPC, GL-CMA, AmSAT, CET, the instructor, designs the class to be accessible for all levels. It is designed to enjoy the organization of dance technique in the body, the strength and coordination that comes from ballet, and enjoying the graceful and controlled style of movement. There will always be options to make combinations more challenging if you are more advanced and options to simplify when needed, and students are always welcome to make any of their own accommodations for your unique body and needs. Ballet class will always start with a ballet barre, center stretching, center floor work, across the floor work, and center technique and combination. Sara started her dance training with ballet and although her professional focus switched to Modern/Contemporary dance around the age of 16 years old, Sara continued to study ballet, teach ballet, and find a love for the style of movement without the expectation of her body needing to look a certain way (no hating on those with that perfect ballet body). Sara received her BA in Dance from the University of New Mexico, MFA in Dance Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and 20+ years of dancing with companies including The Bill Evans Dance Company, Motus Dance Company, Wellspring Dance Theatre, and is also the founder and director of the =ibrium Dance Project: Dance for EveryBODY. Sara is a certified Evans Laban/Bartenieff Based Modern Dance Technique teacher, a certified Laban Movement Analyst, and certified Alexander Technique teacher.
