Meet your Walk Leader:

Hello, I’m Jane Hull. I had surgery to remove an Acoustic Neuroma in December 2024. I’m really pleased to be leading this friendly, supportive walk, which is all about fresh air, gentle movement, and connecting with others who understand.

? Distance: Approximately 3 miles (approx 1.5 hours at a relaxed pace, pausing half way to admire the views and take a breather)
⛰️ Terrain: Hilly, mainly on tracks
? Pace: Relaxed and friendly

Beacon Hill is believed to be one of the earliest known places where man made home and recognized as the site of a Bronze Age Hill Fort.  The rocks at the top of the hill were formed from volcanic activity some 700 million years ago.  The summit, nicknamed “The Old Man of Beacon” is one of the highest points of Leicestershire and on a good day affords great views across the area.

Dogs are welcome and there is a lovely café close to the car park with plenty of outside seating. Pay & Display parking is available. Please pay at the machine before leaving – charges for over 3 hours £5 cash and card payment accepted). Details of meeting point are available at registration.

The route takes us through open countryside and woodland paths, with lovely views and interesting sculptures along the way. The first part of the walk is uphill but then flattens with a downhill return. Please wear sturdy walking shoes, as it can get quite muddy.
