This six-week workshop is designed to help you build a sustainable writing practice in a supportive, playful community.Over six weekly sessions, we'll explore the creative process through craft discussions, close readings, generative writing prompts, and helpful feedback. Together we'll investigate the questions every writer asks:What the heck do I write?We’ll briefly review the “scales” of writing: voice, observation, scene, dialogue, structure, and revision.Expect two things in this class: generating new work and slowly developing one piece outside of class that we return to over the course of the workshopThe workshop is intentionally capped at 10 participants so everyone is heard and seen.No experience is necessary. We need them. Emotions are king (and queen). We’ll talk about how to wield them wisely, we’ll warm up and write more, we’ll read + discuss something inspirational, and we’ll workshop new fellows’ projects. Week 4: Building the Foundation with StructureThink Piece: No foundation, nowhere to goLet’s talk revision. Let’s talk about the importance of structure (and plot, ugh), and of course, we’ll write, play, and give more feedback. Week 5: Revision & WorkshopThink Piece: Revision doesn’t have to suck. Here’s whyWe’ll prep for the final class reading, we’ll continue with writing exercises, and workshop final pieces.Week 6: Reading & CelebrationThink Piece: Is a writing practice a load of BS?
