Frem, an Underlander technician and inventor, must travel to the prosperous Overland for the first time in generations to seek help with an impending famine. The Overlanders take an interest in Frem's golem Tachlis, an artificial lifeform that is more than it first appears. The Joining uses the golem, the creature of clay and mud from Jewish folklore, to explore our own relationship with technology, and the ways technology is used to make us complicit in our own exploitation, oppression, and dehumanization.CAST:Diana Wyenn - Stage DirectorFahad Siadat - Music DirectorAngelica Rowell - Frem (they/them)Molly Pease - Gemini (she/her)Kion Heidari - Tachlis (it/its)Scott Graff - Walt (he/him)Heather Jones - Khaver (they/them)Brightwork New Music - Instrumental EnsembleThis workshop concert will showcase a semi-staged version of the opera.
