Somos NELA is about Lili Sanchez and how she conceived and organized a night market for working-class neighbors in Northeast LA.Afterward, there will be a conversation on cultural preservation and affordability in Los Angeles with Elizabeth Ito, animator and creator of City of Ghosts; Helen Leung and Betty Avila of LA Más; and community organizer Lili Sanchez.These films are part of Take Me to Your River: A Cultural Atlas of the LA River, an oral history project produced by the nonprofit Clockshop.This program is made possible by the LA Made Fund.
