This is the modern bourbon experience.Steve Nally and Wife Donna Nally in the Bourbon Hall of FameSteve Nally and his wife Donna Nally are both members of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame, recognized for their extraordinary contributions to the bourbon industry and distillery tourism.Steve Nally’s careerBorn in 1950 in Loretto, Kentucky, Steve grew up next to Maker’s Mark and began working there in his early 20s, eventually becoming Master Distiller in 1988. Over 35 years at Maker’s Mark, he helped transform the distillery from producing just 32 barrels of bourbon per week into one of the world’s largest bourbon producers. He was instrumental in maintaining the brand’s identity and quality standards. In 2003, he left Maker’s Mark to explore other opportunities, later founding Wyoming Whiskey and then becoming the first employee hired to help launch Bardstown Bourbon Company, where he remains Master Distiller.Donna Nally’s contributionsWhile Steve focused on distilling, Donna was pivotal in shaping the visitor experience and promoting bourbon tourism. She helped create the original visitor center at Maker’s Mark, co-founded the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, and was a driving force behind the development of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which now attracts over two million visitors annually.
