Set within our dedicated listening space, each gathering invites audiences to engage with music not just as sound, but as story, history, and shared human experience.This next installment welcomes Mario Caldato Jr., the Brazilian-born, Los Angeles-raised producer and engineer whose career has connected some of the most influential sounds of American hip-hop with generations of Brazilian music. Best known for his defining work with the Beastie Boys, Mario has spent more than four decades behind the console, working across hip-hop, rock, samba, MPB, and experimental music. His perspective is uniquely personal: shaped by a lifelong curiosity for the ways music travels, transforms, and creates connections across cultures.We will also be joined by a special guest, Devon Turnbull. The force behind OJAS.Regionally inspired libations crafted by duo behind Vanessa and Alisa CateringAs always, all proceeds from the evening will benefit local school’s music programs.Session Four - Brazil featuring Mario Caldato Jr.For this program, Mario Caldato Jr. will guide audiences through the music of Brazil, tracing the traditions and transformations that have continually reshaped its sound. Moving across generations and genres, the session explores samba, funk, soul, psychedelia, hip-hop, and contemporary Brazilian music through a perspective shaped by Mario’s Brazilian roots and a lifetime spent between two musical worlds.Born in São Paulo and raised in Los Angeles, Mario came of age within the city’s punk, club, and hip-hop scenes before becoming closely associated with Delicious Vinyl and the Beastie Boys. He engineered Paul’s Boutique and later co-produced Check Your Head, Ill Communication, and Hello Nasty. A return to Brazil while touring opened a new chapter, leading to work with artists including Planet Hemp, Marcelo D2, Seu Jorge, Bebel Gilberto, Marisa Monte, and Nação Zumbi.Part musical autobiography and part cultural exploration, the session traces the exchange between Brazil and Los Angeles through someone who has lived deeply in both worlds. Through the records that shaped him, the artists he encountered, and the music he helped create, Mario offers a personal view of Brazilian music as a living culture—rooted in tradition, yet always evolving.The SystemFor this session will feature an entirely reworked system based on the newly released OJAS kO-R2. This limited edition, 2-way multicell loudspeaker is the second collaboration between OJAS x Klipsch. Limited to only 200 pairs for the US, they are already almost sold out.We are also proud to introduce the famed Japanese manufacturer Phasemation to our showroom.
