The Exorcist and Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (made 13 years before) took a genre and fully catapulted it into the modern era.Actress Chris MacNeill (Burstyn) is horrified to discover her 12 year old daughter Regan (Blair) appears to be developing symptoms that can’t be explained by any mental or physical health disease. He brushes aside the unsettling revelation that a caretaker only a decade before had gone crazy in the long snowy winter and killed his entire family with an ax in the hotel.But when Jack, wife Wendy (Duvall), and son Danny (Lloyd) begin their stay, strange things start to happen. Danny has “the Shining” the ability to see and hear things no one else can.
