Tolkien’s all time classic fantasy trilogy The Lord of the Rings, they would end up going to Mordor and back just like the Fellowship.The movies were all shot back to back to back, one of cinema’s biggest gambles, and it wasn’t until part of Fellowship screened at Cannes in 2001 that everyone involved realized the movies just might be huge hits.Shot in New Zealand which is now synonymous with Middle Earth, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring like the first book tells the story of hobbits Frodo and loyal friend Sam who set out with the wizard Gandalf and ultimately a fellowship of elves, dwarves, humans, and hobbits to do the impossible: destroy the evil ring of power by dropping it in the volcanic pit of Mount Doom in the heart of the evil land of the dark lord, Sauron-Mordor.The books for five decades were considered unfilmable as live action movies because of the sheer scale of the fantasy-horror-action-adventure nature of the material. Huge battles. Elven cities.
