In light of the ongoing fire emergency in Los Angeles, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming panel event, “Election Reflections: Latino Voters and the Future of American Politics,” originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

Our top priority is the safety of our participants, attendees, staff, and the greater Los Angeles community. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the fires and the first responders working tirelessly to protect our communities.

We know this event – presented as part of the UCLA Luskin Lecture Series in partnership with the UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute – promises to be an insightful discussion on the growing influence of Latino voters in American politics. We remain committed to providing a platform for critical conversations and will share a new date and time soon.

This is event is presented as part of the UCLA Luskin Lecture Series in partnership with the UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute.

The 2024 presidential election underscored the growing influence of Latino voters, solidifying their role as a crucial demographic in American politics. This panel brings together leading voices in politics, media, and advocacy to provide an overview of how Latino voters impacted the election results and what these outcomes mean for Latino communities across the United States.

Our discussion, moderated by Univision news anchor Jorge Ramos, will cover voter turnout trends, key issues motivating Latino voters, and the geographic and demographic factors influencing their choices. Additionally, the panel will explore the policies and political shifts resulting from the election and how they will likely affect Latino communities in areas such as immigration, healthcare, education, and economic opportunity.

The UCLA Luskin Lecture Series enhances public discourse on topics relevant to the betterment of society. The Series features renowned public intellectuals, bringing together scholars as well as national and local leaders to address society’s most pressing problems. Lectures encourage interactive, lively discourse across traditional divides between the worlds of research, policy and practice. The Series demonstrates UCLA Luskin’s commitment to encouraging innovative breakthroughs and creative solutions to formidable public policy challenges.

The UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute addresses the most critical domestic policy challenges facing Latinos and other communities of color through research, advocacy, mobilization, and leadership development to propel policy reforms that expand genuine opportunity for all Americans.
