- **Event Description**: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEA Varietyville Christmas Special is comin’ to town! “Dysfunctional-Family-Friendly” Fun and Live Variety Entertainment Finds New Home at The Elysian Theater on December 3!LOS ANGELES, CA —Tuesday, November 25, 2025 — Varietyville, a monthly live variety show, is celebrating their third annual Christmas special and first show at LA’s spectacular Elysian Theater on Wednesday, December 3rd at 9:30 pm.Directed by creator and showrunner Austin Laine Walker, the show draws inspiration from icons of television’s golden years, like Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, and The Muppets—blending scripted storytelling, improvisational blunders, and guest performances with a festive yuletide twist.Christmas will come early this year with special guests Ron Lynch, Esmerelda the Puppet, and Trevor Goober! Plus a unique performance from Matt Felten as Ebenezer Scrooge. You’ll meet The Varietyvillians (Suzanne Nichols, Cait Bidwell, Yasha Rayzberg, Amanda Sedaka, Iris Perry, & “Transatlantic Will” Marcil) with legendary character actor, Dr. M.C. Gainey, and music from Mike Bolger and The Varietyville Sound (Madison Shearer, Jared Tashjian, Cale Moore, & Fiddlin’ Tom Hanslowe), as well as cartoons from Isaiah Ferguson and puppetry by Alex Bartley! Since their first show in August 2023 at Be Kind Video, Varietyville has grown from a scrappy theater experiment into one of LA’s most delightfully unpredictable live shows. Each performance is a one-night-only experience where Walker and the Citizens of Varietyville unite an audience of all ages with a modern twist on classic variety specials of the past. The troupe goes all out for the holidays, making spirits bright with humor, song, and even a touch of sentimentality that would make their variety special forebears proud, as confirmed by honorary Producer Emeritus, renowned television producer/writer responsible for numerous variety shows and specials, Saul Ilson, who accepted an advisory role with Varietyville after being “blown away” by their first anniversary show in August 2024.  With every unique production, the cast and crew strive to outdo themselves as a reminder of the incredible community upon which Varietyville is built.Past special guests include iconic character actors Tom Kenny, Stephen Tobolowsky, and David Koechner; pop-funk singer songwriter Dylan Chambers and bluegrass band Faultliner; Magic Castle magicians Matt Felten, Cassandra Ruiz, and Ben Nemzer; puppetry by the Jim Henson Company’s Dan Garza; and specialty performances by mixed media animator Isaiah Ferguson, Laffy Pants the Clown, and more.
