“Flora & Threads” by Sylvie Levesque

Viewpoints Gallery is proud to feature a stunning new exhibition by Sylvie Levesque.This breathtaking new exhibition features Sylvie’s large-scale mixed media painting Falling Leaves as well as fifteen additional new pieces from her latest series “Flora & Threads.”

A French-Canadian self-taught artist, Sylvie signs her work Vie…. She creates abstract figurative paintings that elegantly blend memory, emotion, and nature into lyrical works that invite viewers to take a closer look. In her gorgeous new collection, Sylvie incorporates leaves, petals, and threads into layered mixed-media compositions that glow with autumn earth tones and touches of blue-grey and green. Sylvie’s sophisticated yet whimsical style incorporates figures with simplified faces, letting expression and atmosphere take center stage.

“My ideas often come from simple things—a walk in the mountains, a shawl I knitted, or the feel of new fibers,” says Sylvie. “For me, Flora reflects nature, while Threads speaks to memory—together they bring movement and emotion into my work.”

Sylvie’s works have been featured in galleries and exhibitions across the Bay Area, including “San Francisco Women Artist” in San Francisco, the Harrington Gallery in Pleasanton, and at Ocean Blue in Half Moon Bay. Her paintings are held in private collections in the United States, Canada, and France.

In addition to her own art practice, Sylvie teaches French and monthly art workshops in her San Jose studio, welcoming only four students at a time for a personal, hands-on experience. For her classes, Sylvie often draws on her own life experiences with nature and adventure—most recently her climb of Italy’s Grand Paradis summit.
