Founded in 1991 BoAi Chorus began as a group of parents seeking quality time while waiting for their children at a local Chinese school on Saturday mornings. Today although the children have long since finished their Chinese school the Saturday morning recitals continue as part of the chorus’s legacy. BoAi has grown to include over 50 members in a wide range of ages. Most members are Chinese-American with roots in Taiwan China and Southeast Asia. Most have a basic knowledge of music theory and read music. The chorus holds recitals every Saturday morning at Foothills Congregational Church in Los Altos except on holidays. Performances are mostly in SATB four-part harmony with occasional smaller ensembles. BoAi gives large-scale performances every 2-3 years and 2-3 smaller public performances each year.
