# Event Details - **Event Name**: A Hike on Shaky Ground - **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 14 Dec, 2025 at 10:00 am – Sun, 14 Dec, 2025 at 01:00 pm - **Event Description**: Join Greenbelt Alliance for a hike in the Santa Cruz Mountains along the San Andreas Fault.About this EventWe'll "strike-slip" our way along the Fault, Franciscan, and Lost Creek Trails. Our route passes the fence that jumped several feet during the 1906 earthquake. For the botanically inclined, we'll see four different species of oak trees and pass a plethora of ferns and fungi. We'll also see the one native plant that retains the name the indigenous people gave it. (Hint: It's the official city shrub of Los Angeles!)TOTAL DISTANCEThis is a moderate hike of about 3 to 4 miles with about 700 feet in elevation change.
