- **Event Description**: Get ready for school with a guided hike to the waterfall, scavenger hunt, wading in the creek, and hands-on stream science!About this EventThis family-friendly adventure begins with a guided hike along a scenic gravel road to the waterfall (approximately 2 miles round trip). Along the way, kids and adults can take part in an interactive scavenger hunt designed to highlight the conservation work of Lula Lake Land Trust and the importance of protecting the Rock Creek watershed.We’ll continue down to the base of the waterfall to enjoy time splashing and exploring the creek before heading back to the meadow. There, guests are invited to bring their own lunch for a relaxed picnic, followed by a hands-on demonstration of how we test water quality of the Rock Creek watershed.Schedule of Events:9:30 am: The front gate of Lula Lake Land Trust opens.10:15 am: The front gate closes and entry is not allowed after this time.10:30 am: The 2-mile round-trip hike to the waterfall kicks off the adventure, featuring an engaging scavenger hunt that turns the journey into a hands-on learning experience along the way.11:00 am: There is an optional hike to the base of the waterfall where kiddos can splash around in the creek.12:00 pm: The hike back to the meadow begins.12:45 pm: Picnic lunch (please bring your own lunch) and a water qualilty testing demonstration.2:00 pm: Event ends and all visitors must head out for the day!Important Information. Please read all the way through:This NOT a camp! An adult must be present with your children.Arrival Time: The gate will open at 9:30 AM EST and arrival time is between 9:30 AM-10:15 AM. We will not allow anyone in past 10:15 AM.Closing Time: We will close promptly at 2:00 PM. All visitors must be back at the parking lot and leaving the property at this time.Bring/Wear: Please make sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots (no flip-flops), bring plenty of drinking water (there are no water stations on site), and dress appropriately for the weather. Optional items include: trekking poles, bugspray, or a backpack to carry your water and snacks.Allergies: in the warmer months we do see quite a bit of yellowjackets on the property, so if you or anyone in your group are allergic to stings or anything else in nature, please carry your own EpiPen as we do not carry one on site.Dogs: Dogs are welcome on a leash. Please pick up after your pet.Swimming: There is no swimming in Lula Lake at any time, but wading anywhere else in the creek is allowedRegistration: Registration is required. 1 registration is good for 1 vehicle. This is a free event, but please consider making a donation at checkout using the "add on" option. Donations go directly back to maintaining the trails owned by Lula Lake Land Trust, a conservation-focused non-profit organization working hard to protect over 4,000 acres of land on Lookout Mountain, GA.
