A field trip to the Grove of Giants, a 100 hectare area containing some of the most notable giant trees in the world. Led by forest ecologist Dr Jen Sanger. The 3 km trail takes you past a great number of very tall trees. An easy trail to get close to giant trees of three different eucalypt species.There are 150 trees over four metres in diameter or 12 metres in girth. Recently published research has found that the Huon Valley’s Grove of Giants is the most carbon dense forest ever measured in Tasmania.
Organised by the Australian Association for Environmental Education (Tas) to promote engagement and immersion with these wonders of nature.The Field Day will provide an opportunitiy to connect in a special environment with educators and scientists.
