Remembering our Christian Folk: Potluck Meal & Ancestor Rite
Yes, yes... we know it's Christmas... but hear us out:
As devotional polytheists, it's part of our practice to remember our past and our Ancestors in a way that is relevant to us in our here-and-now experience. That being said, many of us were not born into our current religious expression, your clergy included. While we may not celebrate Christmas how we used to, that doesn't mean it's not a time of great power and opportunity to practice. As sure as your Ancestors are present for you at pagan-holidays, they're also present at times that were sacred to them.
This is one of those times.
Join Revs. William and Missy at their home for time to share what this season and this time means for you, and what it meant for your ancestors. We'll have a rite in honor of our Ancestors, and in honor of their memories, we share our meal and give gifts (or offerings) to those who have passed before us. We will sing and raise our voices for our beloved dead during a time that is sacred to many of them.
FOOD: Please bring a dish that comes with a meaningful story (not necessarily and epic) connecting the Christmas season, the dish itself, the sacrality of family, as well as our honored dead.
Blessings, and we hope to see everyone there!
