Performed by The Shooting Stars of Lyons Elementary, this musical adventure is sure to fill your holidays with love and JOY.

The first performance on Wednesday, December 17th is a DRESS REHEARSAL - reserved exclusively for LYONS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL families and their relatives. LES students and their siblings may attend this show for FREE!

The OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE is on Thursday, December 18. We hope to see you SPARKLING from the audience! (And we mean that quite literally... every audience member will receive a special starry light-up pen to become active participants in the Night Sky!) 

In this Wizard of Oz–like story, a young girl who’s lost her confidence falls asleep and awakens in the night sky, surrounded by colorful Little Stars beginning “Shooting Star School.” Guided by Mother Sky, Wise Owl, Gremlin, and Father Tree, they learn how to shine their brightest — helping each other every step of the way.

A heartwarming experience for kids and adults alike, this show is a reminder of the power of community — and the courage and light we all carry inside.

With heartfelt gratitude to LEAF and the Lyons Community Foundation for helping this dream come to life.

JOY & The Shooting Stars was written by Molly Williams soon after she moved to Lyons from Massachusetts in October 2024. Founder and President of Center for Women & Girls, Inc., Molly drew inspiration from her confidence-building program for girls, Miss Molly’s Musical Magic, where participants are known as “The Shooting Stars.”

Together with Esther Van Zyl, Founder of DraMagic! — a Lyons-based youth theater group — they have launched the first official Shooting Star School at Lyons Elementary. Plans are already underway for a second Shooting Star School for 6th and 7th graders at Lyons Middle/Senior High School in January 2026.
