- **Event Description**: Please join us for an amazing exhibition of new works inspired by the paintings of Rod Briggs (1927–2017). The show opens from 1-4 pm on Saturday, August 15 and we're also hosting a special artist reception from 6-9 PM. The exhibition runs through Saturday, September 19th. Regular gallery hours are 1-4 PM every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 

The Rod Briggs Gallery used to be his studio, where he'd paint at night after working as a teacher during the day. His paintings, many depicting Long Beach life, verged on photo-realism, although he explored abstraction, impressionism, and many other styles.

Pairs of artists drew inspiration from one painting, thus 11 Briggs paintings produced 22 reinterpretations, all of which will be displayed in the main gallery. The artists are Tracy Allen, Tony Barrera, Aria Bradfield, James Brooks, Kadie DiCarlo, David Early, Susan Hawkins, Nate Jones, Anna Katrina, Calvin Konen, Jeff McMillan, Jacqueline Nguyen, Vince Ruez-Abdo, Jamie Russom, Julio Salgado, Morgan Stahlkuppe, Emily Tanaka, Bernard Vyzga and Ivan Zuno.
