We aim to address the rigidity of traditional poetic forms by welcoming diverse flows and performance styles into our space. At Homegrown Poets, we host a book club every 6 weeks, celebrating authors from all over the world. This month's read is I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman.I Who Have Never Known Men is a haunting and heartbreaking post-apocalyptic novel of female friendships and intimacy, and the lengths people will go to maintain their humanity in the face of devastation. If you like stories like 'Station Eleven' or 'Open Water', this is for you! Themes follow: dystopian, fiction, feminist literature, friendship, modern classic.You can expect open discussion with womxn, followed by a craft session inspired by the novella. Previous craft sessions have included: huck-weaving, embroidery, collaging, and analogue graphic poster making. This month's craft will be hand-painted bookmarks with natural dyes.
