- **Event Description**: A CTLS Lecture in Transnational Justice by Professor Philippa WebbAbout this EventWhat Place Does Law Have in the International Order?A lecture by Professor Philippa Webb, Blavatnik School of Government, University of OxfordPhilippa Webb is Professor of Public International Law at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, and Co-Founder and Director of the Oxford Institute of Technology and Justice. She is a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford, and a barrister at Twenty Essex. She has recently been appointed King’s Counsel. Described as “the foremost expert on state immunity,” she is a leading authority across public international law, with particular expertise in international dispute settlement, human rights, international organisations, humanitarian law, and international criminal law. In 2025, she was elected to the Institut de droit international, joining 132 of the world’s leading international lawyers. Philippa has held positions in the Presidency of the International Court of Justice, the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court and in United Nations Headquarters. Her publications include The Right to a Fair Trial in International Law (2021, with A Clooney), Oppenheim’s International Law: United Nations (2017, with Dame Rosalyn Higgins GBE KC, D Akande, S Sivakumaran and J Sloan) and The Law of State Immunity (2015, with Lady Fox KC).
