About the event

What do you mean Photo Ethics?
This two-hour workshop invites participants to pause and reflect on the ethical dimensions of photography.

About this Event

Through discussion and critical inquiry, we'll explore what it means to make an image, but also consider the moral and social implications of taking and sharing photographs

What We'll Explore:

  • The Act of Image-Making
  • The power dynamics inherent in photography
  • Consent, context, and representation
  • The implications of instant sharing in our hyperconnected world
  • Consuming Images Responsibly
  • How do we critically engage with photographs we encounter?
  • Our responsibilities as viewers and sharers of other people's images
  • The ethics of liking, sharing, and commenting

Workshop Goals:

By the end of this two-hour session, participants will have:

  • Engaged with questions about intention, power, and responsibility in image-making.
  • Examined the ethical complexities of both creating and consuming photographs.
  • Considered philosophical and social perspectives on visual representation.
  • Developed a more critical, reflective stance toward photography in contemporary culture.

This workshop is for anyone who takes photographs
