It was inhabited by the Saxons and mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Favreshant. The town was favoured by King Stephen who established Faversham Abbey, which survived until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538. . Faversham Market has been established for over 900 years and is still based in the town centre.We will walk through the cobalt streets and make our way to Oare Marshes, a beautiful area where swamps, rivers and ponds attract a multitude of migrating birds and will walk along the Swale and the sea and will stop whenever we see a nice bird.Of course we will end this trip with food or drinks at one of the many restaurants in Faversham, unless you prefer to get back on the train directly.
