Ticket by £10 donation. The Friends is a charity dedicated to the care and preservation of this extraordinary cemetery. The TourI look forward to welcoming you to West Norwood. Established in 1837 and the second of London’s ‘Magnificent Seven’ cemeteries, we are the resting place of many ‘self-made’ individuals who changed the course of Victorian society. The tour describes a number of these people, reflecting both on their lives and how they chose to be memorialised. In addition we will look at some lesser known individuals and those lost to history, and aspects of 19th Century funerary practices that related to them. We will discuss monuments, mausolea, vaults, catacombs (although we cannot visit them currently), coffins and common graves.Dr Peter Hodgkinson FRHistSWe will meet at the arched (main) entrance for a prompt 2:30pm start. If you have any mobility concerns, please get in touch with me and I can advise. Unfortunately, dogs (even on leads) are not allowed in the cemetery.West Norwood Cemetery (SE27 9JU) is located next to St Luke's Church and West Norwood Library. Buses: 2, 68, 196, 315, 322, 432 and 468 (several of these routes go via Brixton Tube Station: 2, 196, 322, 432) or West Norwood Station (trains to and from London Bridge/Victoria). Limited off-street parking is available. This tour is being offered on behalf of The Friends of West Norwood Cemetery. Your donation will help us to continue to preserve this very special space. Please note that due to a quirk of the system each ticket has to be booked separately - something to bear in mind if you are coming as a couple or a member of a group. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events2/banners/1f4a8500-bd65-11f1-877e-770309ef2e9f-rimg-w555-h740-dc080808-gmir.jpg - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/london/the-victorian-grave-walking-tour-of-west-norwood-cemetery/100001999083460444 - **Event Categories**: nonprofit, charities, dog - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 - **Event Highlights**: - Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes - Location: West Norwood Cemetery - Languages: English ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 10, max: 10, currency: GBP ## Event venue details - **city**: London - **state**: EN - **country**: United Kingdom - **location**: West Norwood Cemetery - **lat**: 51.4335779 - **long**: -0.1028403 - **full address**: West Norwood Cemetery, Norwood Road, London, United Kingdom ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: The Victorian Grave: Walking Tour of West Norwood Cemetery - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events2/banners/61b1ffd639bc6ddb1512b0340b66ee6139981f224feabc0b91a9757accdd19ed-rimg-w1200-h1156-dc180808-gmir.jpg?v=1789505180 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is The Victorian Grave: Walking Tour of West Norwood Cemetery being held? - **A:** The Victorian Grave: Walking Tour of West Norwood Cemetery takes place on Sun, 04 Oct, 2026 at 02:30 pm to Sun, 04 Oct, 2026 at 04:00 pm at West Norwood Cemetery, Norwood Road, London, United Kingdom. - **Q**: Who is organizing The Victorian Grave: Walking Tour of West Norwood Cemetery? - **A:** The Victorian Grave: Walking Tour of West Norwood Cemetery is organized by Friends of West Norwood Cemetery. ## Structured Data (JSON-LD) ```json [ { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Event", "name": "The Victorian Grave: Walking Tour of West Norwood Cemetery", "image": "https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events2/banners/61b1ffd639bc6ddb1512b0340b66ee6139981f224feabc0b91a9757accdd19ed-rimg-w1200-h1156-dc180808-gmir.jpg?v=1789505180", "startDate": "2026-10-04", "endDate": "2026-10-04", "url": "https://allevents.in/london/the-victorian-grave-walking-tour-of-west-norwood-cemetery/100001999083460444", "location": { "@type": "Place", "name": "West Norwood Cemetery", "address": { "@type": "PostalAddress", "streetAddress": "Norwood Road", "postalCode": "SE27 9JU", "addressLocality": "London", "addressRegion": "EN", "addressCountry": "GB" }, "geo": { "@type": "GeoCoordinates", "latitude": "51.4335779", "longitude": "-0.1028403" } }, "eventAttendanceMode": "https://schema.org/OfflineEventAttendanceMode", "description": "Guided walk through one of London's Magnificent Seven with a guide from the Friends of West Norwood Cemetery.
