Scientific production, effective writing, and a new perspective on research.
As part of the 2025–2026 TUSU Academic Events Series, the Turkish Student Union of the UK (TUSU) proudly presents the “Integrated Course on Academic Writing and Advanced Research”, delivered by an experienced Professor from the University of London.
This 18-week programme is designed for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students who wish to enhance their academic writing and research skills through structured, practice-based learning.
Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience across a wide range of areas — from academic text production and research design to data analysis, publication strategies, and research funding.
🧭 Course Structure📘 Part 1: Foundations of Academic Writing- Week 1 (17 Nov 2025): Defining academic writing and its importance
- Week 2 (24 Nov 2025): Using AI effectively and ethically in academic writing and research
- Week 3 (1 Dec 2025): Writing an essay plan and building arguments
- Week 4 (8 Dec 2025): Sentence and paragraph structure
- Week 5 (15 Dec 2025): Writing an article and developing an academic tone
- Week 6 (5 Jan 2026): Referencing systems and citation styles
(No sessions on 24 Dec 2025 and 31 Dec 2025 — holiday break)
📗 Part 2: Research Design, Methodology, and Analysis- Week 7 (12 Jan 2026): Quantitative analysis – methods, tools, and interpretation
- Week 8 (19 Jan 2026): Qualitative analysis – coding and interpretation
- Week 9 (26 Jan 2026): Asking and answering a research question
- Week 10 (2 Feb 2026): Establishing causality and comparative research approaches
- Week 11 (9 Feb 2026): Concepts and contexts in research
- Week 12 (16 Feb 2026): Surveys, interviews, and focus groups
- Week 13 (23 Feb 2026): Ethnography and participant observation
📙 Part 3: Application, Writing, and Dissemination- Week 14 (2 Mar 2026): Integrating research findings into academic writing
- Week 15 (9 Mar 2026): Writing a research proposal
- Week 16 (16 Mar 2026): How to publish an academic article
- Week 17 (23 Mar 2026): Publishing strategies and platforms (journals, conferences, open access)
- Week 18 (30 Mar 2026): Finding and applying for research funding
🗓️ Schedule- The course runs for 18 weeks, with sessions held every Monday.
- Exact time and location will be announced each term.
- Each session includes both practical exercises and case study discussions.
👥 Participation- Open to all TUSU members and students involved in academic or voluntary research.
- Free of charge, but pre-registration is required.
- Certificates will be awarded to participants who attend all sessions.
