Tour: Memorials and memory

Explore the role of national memory at Westminster Abbey, a building that is filled with beautifully designed memorial stones, windows and sculptures. With over 3,000 people buried and remembered in Westminster Abbey, each memorial tells a story about the past and how their legacy impacts our perceptions of British history in the present.

On this 75-minute tour, you’ll stop at a mix of famous and lesser-known memorials from the last 1,000 years, walking through some of the Abbey’s most atmospheric spaces including:

• The Cloisters, medieval corridors heaving with memorials old and new

• Poets’ Corner, where creative minds are remembered

• The Lady Chapel, a Tudor burial place for monarchs

• The Nave, including a space known as Scientists’ Corner

Please note, the tour on Saturday 21st March will be BSL Interpreted.
