Author Ed Webb-Ingall will discuss how the arrival of affordable, portable videotape transformed political filmmaking in Britain from the late 1960s onwards. Long before the digital age, activists, artists, and community groups seized on video’s immediacy and flexibility to document struggles, organise resistance and challenge power. The book traces video’s role in campaigns around housing, labour rights, racial justice and environmental and AIDS activism. The discussion will be accompanied by a curated selection of video excerpts.
