The Pubs and Taverns of Holloway Road – 30 pubs in an afternoon
Come and join me on a two-mile linear walk down Holloway Road and hear stories about thirty drinking establishments, old and new.
Learn about about breweries and delicacies, live music and dead bodies, courts and sports, transport, a tank and some nonsense.
Along the way you'll see original Victorian social networking sites, hear interesting stories about long-gone establishments and, hopefully, discover some new venues. There really is something for everyone.
The full walk from the top to the bottom of Holloway Road lasts three and a half hours and includes three short refreshment stops. Half tours are available (see below). There will be another optional pub visit after the tour.
Please note, this is not a pub crawl (we can do that another day!).
90 minutes half tours:
Archway–Holloway: includes one refreshment stop.
Holloway–Highbury+Islington: includes one refreshment stop. Starts 4.30pm
Please note that spaces are limited – clicking on the "Going" button will not secure you a ticket.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
We will be going into pubs – sorry, no-one under 18 please – youthful types should bring ID (just in case!)
Where exactly does this tour start?
Details of the meeting point will be on your ticket.
For those booking the second half only, the meeting point location will be emailed to you separately.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Please don't waste time and resources printing out your ticket.
I will have a list of attendees on the day, although it would be wise to make a note of your booking reference
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
In cases of illness or unforseen circumstances involving no-shows I will be happy to transfer your booking to another walk on another date. However, you might be able to offer your ticket to a friend ... please see the next question...
Is it OK if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
This is fine – just email me and let me know the name of the person who will be taking your place.
Is this tour suitable for wheelchairs?
The walk will be mostly on standard shopping pavements and as such should not pose any problems further to those experienced on an average high street.
