Yet the relevance of Griot teachings extends far beyond their West African roots: the whole world could do with a little more peace acceptance and care - for one another and for the planet. These themes permeate his new album Jaliya Silokang - The Path of a Griot from new compositions about Gambian environmental struggles with climate change to reimaginations of ancient songs centred around love and family.At this one-off performance in London Suntou will launch his album performing it live for the first time alongside a 10-piece ensemble. Expect an intimate energetic and life-affirming show as Suntou and his band take you on multiple journeys: to the sunshine of Africa; his culture; and through the album’s messages of love peace and equality.
