FRIDAY 22ND MARCH 2019
Pick Up Group: J
Stamford in Lincolnshire remains still ‘the finest stone town in England’ its prosperity drawn from the wool trade and its historical position being halfway between London and York. The first town to create a conservation area has meant that much of its historical architectural heritage has remained intact. It has formed the backdrop for such television costume dramas as Middlemarch and Pride and Prejudice. Friday is Market Day in the Town Square and combines with many independent shops and many pubs and restaurants to give an ancient and vibrant atmosphere to this bustling town. We shall return through the rural countryside stopping for tea enroute. Home by approximately 7.30pm.
