The Phototherapy Course is designed to equip the learner with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively administer phototherapy treatments (NBUVB/PUVA/UVA1), monitor patient responses, and manage potential side effects. Upon completion, the learner will be expected to undergo further competency assessment in their workplace.
Who Should Attend?
This course is aimed at registered nurses, nursing associates or allied healthcare professionals who are new to, or early in their development of phototherapy skills. This interactive course supports best practice as outlined in the British Association of Dermatologists - Staff Training and Education Standards which recommends phototherapy clinicians attend a phototherapy course at least once every three years (Phototherapy-Guidance-and-Services-Standards-2022.pdf).
Programme overview:
The course is offered as a blended learning format offering pre-attendance online learning material on a bespoke learning platform, followed by 1 day face to face practical learning in our clinical department.
The virtual learning includes interactive lectures and videos. This is accessible three weeks prior to the face-to-face event and for one month following course completion to allow the learner to consolidate or revisit the material.
A multiple-choice test can be found on the platform which will help assess your level of knowledge pre and post course completion. The face-to-face day encompasses live presentations, an expert panel session for questions and workshops/ demonstrations on the phototherapy unit.
The course programme has been developed by a multi-professional team of experts including a Medical Physics team, Consultant Dermatologists and Specialist Phototherapy nurses.
The face-to-face teaching programme includes a selection of tailored lectures in the morning, followed by workshops/live demonstrations in our phototherapy department.
A course certificate is provided upon completion.
Course Fees: £595.
