# Event Details - **Event Name**: Sketching the Raphael Cartoons - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 04 Apr, 2026 at 11:00 am – Sat, 04 Apr, 2026 at 01:00 pm (+01:00) - **Event Description**: An introduction to the fascinating Raphael Cartoons in the V&A, followed by a guided drawing session suitable for all levelsAbout this EventSketching the Raphael Cartoons forms part of our Drawing the Renaissance series and is suitable for beginner and experienced artists alike.The session will be split into 2 parts:The first 20 minutes will focus on talking through the fascinating history of these paintings; their creation, how tapestries were made from them in the 16th Century, how they came to be with us today in the V&A and surviving the English Civil War after which so much of our artwork was lost.For the final 1hr 30mins we will start with some group exercises to warm up before taking on some longer drawings individually. We'll be on hand to guide and encourage newer artists with suggestions and help on your sketches and can provide materials for those who do not have their own. Please select whether you'd like materials included at checkout, we will bring paper, drawing boards, a range of graphite, white chalk and some colour pencils as these are the only allowed materials in the V&A.🌍 Located at the V&A in London.
